Twins Beat TigersDetroit â?? On Thursday the Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit to win 8-3 victory and stops the Tigers for their chance to win the first division title, which they never had in their 22 years as a team. The Minnesota Twins has been able to evade getting eliminated from the playoff race and now positioned themselves within two games with the Tigers.
Denard Span, Twinâ??s outfielder, just does not want to see them celebrating yet. The Showdown in Motown has made both teams split on a four game series. Although the Tigers had their chance in wrapping up the game and win the division crown which they won in 1987, their players had a hard time on the three-run third inning and the four-run eighth. Detroit has made an indention by starting the series with a two-game lead and did not give the Tigers chance to survive.
They have controlled their fate in that game and were given the chance to earn it. However, the Tigers were given credit for their good play. Detroit has still three games to play in their sleeve but they are not worrying because they can always lead the games. They only have to play good baseball just like how they do it at home.
The test is yet to come when the game will be decided this weekend or it could be next week if there will be ties in their games.
In case Detroit will defeat the Chicago White Sox led by Ozzie Guillen two times at home, the Detroit will win the division. But if they cannot, then the Tigers would be dealing with the Kansas City Royals who finished their season at Minnesota. Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardehire said they will be going to the dome to deal with their opponent during the weekends and he is sure he can beat the Royals once and for all.
During the game, people became hot-tempered. Jim Leyland, Detroit manager, argued with umpire Angel Hernandez after an inside pitch. The face-to-face argument is enough for Leyland to be ejected. Jeremy Bonderman, Tigersâ?? pitcher and Laird were also thrown out of the game during the home half. There was a commotion when Bonderman plunked the leg of Twinsâ?? outfielder, Delmon Young. The commotion was controlled and the play continues.
